Premise

Skillbound is built around the idea that the player isn't defined by a single RPG class.

Instead, your skills define your character.

The player arrives in/explores Greenhaven, a fantasy region filled with residents, shops, wilderness, resources, monsters and eventually dungeons.

The central progression is about starting relatively inexperienced and becoming increasingly capable through actually performing activities.

Mining makes you a better miner. Fishing improves fishing. Fighting develops combat abilities. Farming, gathering, crafting and cooking all contribute to the player's development.

This makes the player's personal progression the heart of the story.
